From the Barrel:
- We have been lucky to source several wines on tap; Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Syrah from Waipara and Pinot Rosé from Kaituna. All of our tap wines are available by the glass, half-litre carafe and litre carafe [more]
- We have a newly available Elderflower Brut from Aroha, served in a flute or by the carafe.
Whites:
- Lake Chalice Sauvignon Blanc - Marlborough
Pale straw with green hues. Aromas of blackcurrant and grapefruit dominate. A crisp, medium bodied, dry wine with a refreshing and elegant palate. Mouth-watering acidity is balanced by a mineral note on the lingering finish.
- Brunton Organic Chardonnay - Gisborne
Pale straw colour. Lifted lemon and caramel notes with some spicy complexity. The palate is medium weight with ripe fruit and spice flavours and some lees complexity, a balanced acidity and a long finish.
- Brookfields 'Ohiti' Riesling - Hawke's Bay
A youthful straw colour. The 2009 Ohiti Estate Riesling is aromatic with generous lime and floral notes. The palate is under pinned with a splash of sweetness due it being stop fermented.
- Torea 'Oystercatcher' Pinot Gris - Marlborough
Clear and bright. Delicately fragrant, in an off dry style with ripe and juicy white peach characters and a hint of cinnamon. A gentle aroma of candied peel, wet stones and thyme. Fleshy palate with a delicious touch of sweetness from the wonderfully ripe fruit.
Reds:
- Rimu Grove 'Bronte' Pinot Noir - Nelson
Bright ruby. Impressively complex on the nose displaying dark cherry, game, savoury mushroom and subtle nutty characters. Beautifully fruited showing silky texture and plenty of fine-grained tannins.
- Ti Point 'Two' Merlot Cabernet Franc - Matakana
Blood red with a hint of a purple hue. Bouquet of ripe cherries, dark chocolate and a hint of spice and leather. Supple integrated tannins offering length and persistence. A palate sweetness, balanced out with a soft acid.
- Geoff Merrill Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre - McLaren Vale (Sth Aust)
Aromas of coffee and spice with a hint of fennel. The palate is youthful with the old vine Grenache providing raspberries and black cherries, with blackcurrant from the Shiraz and the Mourvedre giving verve, all supported by a firm yet fine tannin structure with well integrated oak adding complexity to the wine.
Sparkling:
- Allan Scott 'Cecilia' Brut NV - Marlborough
A blend of fruit from three different vineyards, each vineyard is prepared meticulously to ensure flavoursome grapes that will express themselves individually in the final blend. A typical Chardonnay / Pinot Noir blend. This Methode has biscuity rich stonefruit characters and a big mouth filling finish.
